Blauwe Loper Bridge Will Connect Two Cities in The Netherlands – Only for Cyclists and Pedestrians
The unique bridge will be raised upon the lake, canal, and a nature reserve and will be available only for cyclists and pedestrians. Blauwe Loper Bridge will stretch for eight hundred meters and will be the longest in Europe.
This project carries certain risks mostly because of its location near the water bodies and reclaimed land which creates humid air. Blauwe Loper Bridge will be constructed from wood featuring innovative construction technologies which will prevent rotting and molding.
This bridge will unite two populated centers: Winschoten and Blauwestad – a village that was built on reclaimed land.
The first construction stage will take seven months then the Blauwe Loper Bridge will be extended to two hundred meters. The bridge will be slightly inclined and will cost six and a half million euros.
The lifetime of the Blauwe Loper is estimated at a minimum of eighty years which a long time for wooden bridge construction. The Blauwe Loper Bridge is an eco-friendly and eco-sustainable construction that takes construction engineering to a new level.
The end of the bridge will be set as a continuation of the Blauwestad main street.
